SUNY New Paltz among best value public colleges, according to survey

NEW PALTZ – Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has named SUNY New Paltz among the 100 best values in public collages, ranking four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value.  New Paltz ranked 53 on the annual list, which appears in Kiplinger’s February 2010 issue on the newsstands now.

Private colleges have averaged almost $36,000 a year in contrast to the public schools on the Kiplinger list.

Ten SUNY colleges made the list, all with $4,970 annual in-state tuitions. They are:

  • SUNY Binghamton - #5
  • SUNY Geneseo - #9
  • Stony Brook University (SUNY) - #39
  • SUNY New Paltz - #54
  • University at Buffalo (SUNY) - #70
  • SUNY Cortland - #75
  • SUNY Oneonta - #81
  • University at Albany (SUNY) - #84
  • SUNY Fredonia - #87
  • SUNY Brockport - #96

Number one on the top 100 list is University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
