Capital District residents caught with heroin on Thruway

SOUTH NYACK – Schenectady man and Albany woman are facing felony charges after being found in illegal possession of heroin and marijuana. The street value of the heroin was $10,000, police said.

On February 9, at about 11:50 p.m., a state trooper stopped them for a traffic infraction while traveling northbound on the Thruway in the Village of south Nyack.  When police investigated, they found over 1,000 decks of heroin and small amount of marijuana in their possession.

The driver, Desiree Shepard, 28, and passenger, Oshapha Murray, 27, were charged with were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Murray also had a warrant for violation of parole.
