Sullivan man gets 25 years for two armed robberies

25 years in prison

MONTICELLO – A man with a previous robbery conviction was sentenced in Sullivan County Court Tuesday to 25 years in prison for holding up two Monticello area businesses last year.

Ricardo Quinones, 39, of Monticello, was sentences to two concurrent 25 year sentenced for the armed robberies of the McDonald’s restaurant on Route 42 in the town of Thompson on May 21 and of the Chase Bank branch on Broadway in Monticello on July 11.

Quinones, who also admitted to using and possessing a loaded semi-automatic handgun in both robberies was also sentenced to a concurrent 15 years in prison for that crime.

He was also sentenced to five years post-release supervision.
Approximately $700 was taken from the McDonald’s robbery and about $95,000 was taken in the bank robbery.

The previous robbery conviction dated back to 1993 when he was sentenced to 12 ½ to 25 years in prison.
