Rockland keeps the heat on drug activity

NEW CITY – Cracking down on illicit drug activity continues to be a major emphasis of law enforcement across the region.

In Rockland County, District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said they are tough on drug activities.

“We are sending a very clear message out there that if you’re doing it, you run a substantial risk in this county of being arrested for it,” he said. “Whether it be prescription drugs or street level dealing, we have a very, very active narcotics task force. We have a very close relationship, on top of that, with the treatment community to deal with it from both ends.” According to Zugibe, “We think that we are going to make an impact.”

Each county in the region has a drug task force coupled with state police and federal drug enforcement efforts.
