Man charged with breaking into residence while armed with knife

PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis man under arrest, charged with first-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into a residence on Washington Avenue in Port Jervis at 6:15 a.m. Monday while armed with a knife.

Police allege Gordon Lightfoot, 38, of 129 Hammond Street, threatened an occupant of the residence with the weapon.

No proceeds were taken. A confrontation occurred when the resident came face to face with Lightfoot. He was caught by Port Jervis City Police outside the home.

Lightfoot was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing in the second degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.
