MONTGOMERY – State Police in Montgomery have arrested a man with addresses in New Jersey and Campbell Hall on two separate charges of grand larceny in the third degree as felonies. State Police BCI arrested Joseph Kerney, 49, after their investigation revealed he stole $7,320 from Recognition of Exceptional Citizens, a non-profit organization in Lyndhurst, NJ. The investigation revealed in his capacity as past president of the group, he compromised the organization’s checking account. In a separate, unrelated case, Kerney is charged with another count of grand larceny in the third degree, for stealing $5,146 in unemployment insurance funds from the state. He is accused of collecting the benefits while working for a company in Cortlandt. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. |
