Roscoe plans to upgrade downtown business look

ROSCOE – Armed with a $200,000 grant from the State Housing Trust Fund and the Office of Community Renewal, the Roscoe Rockland Chamber of Commerce wants to upgrade the downtown area of Roscoe with façade improvements to businesses and improvements to residential units above the businesses.

Chamber President Elaine Fettig said they want to beautify the business district.

“We would like to have some commonality. We are thinking of some awnings that might be similar; they will never look completely the same, obviously, but we do want to give a view and a thread of the town that gives that feeling of commonality,” she said.

The grant requires 25 percent of the cost to be paid for by the building owners.

The chamber of commerce is charged with establishing design criteria and soliciting applications from business owners.
