| Orange County GOP chairman may challenge Hall |
|
GOSHEN – Orange County Republican Party Chairman William DeProspo Thursday said he is giving serious consideration to running for the GOP nomination for Congress in the 19th District. That’s the seat currently held by Democrat John Hall. DeProspo said he is seriously considering a run. “I have been approached from an awful lot of people from throughout the five counties, a lot of groups, a lot of organizations, and I am giving it very serious consideration, speaking with my family and a lot of supporters through the 19th Congressional District,” he said. “I anticipate coming to a decision, probably over the next couple of weeks, as to what my future holds in store.” If DeProspo runs, he would face off in a primary, against at least one other Republican. Nan Hayworth of Westchester County is running, and is getting endorsements. Hayworth’s campaign on Thursday issued a number of endorsements including from State Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun, Blooming Grove Town Supervisor Frank Fornario, Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton, Orange County Legislator Al Buckbee, former vice chairman of the Orange County GOP Committee, Joan Wolfe, and the Wawayanda and highlands Republican committees. |
