Fire damages Beacon home

BEACON – A Wednesday night fire damaged a portion of a residence at 35 Ackerman Street in Beacon. The occupants made it out on their own and damage was confined to the second and third floors.

When firefighters arrived around 9:35 p.m., they were met by heavy smoke emanating from the structure, but they were able to knock down the fire in about 10 minutes.

The Beacon Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Fishkill Fire Department, Beacon Volunteer Ambulance and Beacon Police.

The Glenham and Rombout fire departments were on standby to over the city.               

There were no reports of any injuries.
