Steinhaus issues 2010 state of county report as county faces challenging times

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive William Steinhaus Tuesday released his 2010 State of County report to the county legislature. He will go into detail of the 30 page report when he addresses the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce monthly dinner on Wednesday.

“As the difficult economy continues, the expectations of our residents change,” he said. “Many residents find themselves needing to utilize county services when they never have before.” At the same time, the county executive said taxpayers are calling on government to cut spending and control property taxes. “The challenge we face as county government is responding to those very diverse expectations in a balanced, responsible way.”

The theme of the 2010 report is “Expectations vs. Deliverables in a Challenging Economy.” The report outlines the local and state economic conditions; reviews the county’s current fiscal position and details the wealth of services and programs provided to the residents of the county.
