School district brings plans for new school to Middletown Common Council

MIDDLETOWN – The plans for a new elementary school in the City of Middletown school district were laid out to the common council during Tuesday night’s session.

Tom Scott, a representative from the school district, and Tim Bonaparte, the landscape architect, showed the plans for what would be a “campus-like atmosphere” for the new school with two parking lots and separate parking area for buses.

Alderman Raymond Depew commended the school district on the work that they had managed to accomplish with regard to the project.

“I have to tell you, it’s been impressive seeing what the Middletown School District has become in the last three years,” said Depew, “I mean it’s just impressive, all the work that’s been happening, all the grants that have been flowing in and all the changes that have happened, even more than three years.  But there’s been a lot of great work that’s been going on and this is a really great project that’s coming forward.”

The new facility would have two floors, be approximately 200,000 square feet and be completed by September 2011.
