ALBANY – State Republican Chairman Ed Cox said Rick Lazio is the party’s presumptive candidate for governor.

Lazio was in Albany, Monday, to address the state Conservative Party and Cox, who was there, said Lazio has over 50 percent of the weighted votes of the Republican Party.

“We are behind him and we are giving him our support and are doing everything we can. He’s a great candidate; he’s going to make a great governor.”

The Conservative Party is also expected to endorse Lazio.

Cox was critical Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is expected to seek the Democratic nod for governor, for not yet declaring his candidacy.
