Home sales nosedive in July

GOSHEN – Sales of single-family homes in Orange and Rockland counties in July dropped dramatically as compared to June sales.

Orange Ccounty Board of Realtors’ Executive Director Ann Garti said there is a reason for the 44 percent drop in Orange County and 27 percent dip in Rockland.

“We had that really nice bump due to the tax credit; however, I think that going forward we are going to see precaution and the lack of momentum until the job picture improves,” she said.

The average selling price of a home in Orange County rose by seven percent and by two percent in Rockland.

Condo and townhouse sales fell 62 percent in July as compared to June in Orange County and by 10 percent in Rockland County.
