Orange County opens second Fresh Start Café

Kitchen staff keeps busy in the new café

NEWBURGH – Orange County has opened its second Fresh Start Café, this one at its 280 Broadway, Newburgh Employment Training Program offices.  The Regional Economic Community Action Program, which operates the county’s first such café, in Middletown, will run this one as well.

County Executive Edward Diana said the café is designed to provide workforce training opportunities for welfare recipients while at the same time, serving the public.

“It’s a real live café serving food; the public can go eat there,” he said. The county is also seeing if it can prepare meals for the senior dining program through the Office for the Aging.

The café work will provide those in need with access to job skills that might otherwise be difficult for them to obtain, said Diana.
