Hurley man confronts deputy with gun

TOWN OF HURLEY – Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at 400 Hillside Drive, for a domestic situation involving an intoxicated man, arguing with his wife.

Upon arrival, police initially communicated with Jeffrey Hamsher, 54, through his front door.  When the door opened, Hamsher confronted the deputy with a loaded handgun.

Hamsher eventually surrendered the gun and was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was charged with felony menacing of a police officer.  He was arraigned and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
