Greene IDA expands broadband wireless initiative

CATSKILL – The Greene County Industrial Development Agency Tuesday announced an expansion of its Broadband Wireless Initiative. The communities of Athens, Catskill and Greenville will be the focus of new wireless broadband service, in addition to the Coxsackie-Athens, Catskill and Greenville school districts.

The Greene IDA has received a $100,000 New York State Wireless Grant to fund the expansion of the existing program.

The strategic plan of the Greene initiative is to provide broadband wireless to all business parks and key public spaces including all school district campuses.

The ultimate goal of the project is to showcase Greene County as tech savvy and having embraced technology. Officials say it will ultimately help ongoing efforts to attract tech related companies, related jobs and their workforce.
