Alcohol involvement suspected in fatal accident

TOWN OF MONTGOMERY – A 27-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when his car ran off Route 211 East in the Town of Montgomery and struck a telephone phone. Police said alcohol involvement is suspected in the accident.

Town Police identified the victim as Christopher MacConnell of 507 Rakov Road in Maybrook.

Police said MacConnell was driving his car near Kaisertown Road at around 4:20 a.m. when he struck the poll. The vehicle ran into the woods at which point he was ejected.

MacConnell was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
