Petraeus coming home for R&R in Cornwall

CORNWALL – General David Petraeus is coming home this weekend and plans to spend time with old friends.  His a native of Cornwall.

Petraeus, appointed the US Central Commander a year ago. was commanding general of multi-national forces in Iraq. 

He will be coming home to Orange County this weekend for a reunion at his college alma mater, West Point, and also spending time at the Cornwall Middle School and speaking to the Orange County Boy Scout Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner.

The school and Boy Scout events will take place on Thursday. They were arranged by his public school buddy, Alan Seidman, an Orange County legislator and executive director of the Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley.

 “He is a general but he is a hometown boy and just really cares about the town and he wants to see people. He’s looking forward to seeing some old classmates that are coming in for the festivities and he really still cares about Cornwall,” he said.

The general will also dedicate a local road in Cornwall, which will be named in his honor.
