| Nevele Resort pays Ulster County for back taxes |
|
KINGSTON – Nevele Hotel, LLC has paid up its more than $342,687 bill owned for outstanding taxes and payments in lieu of taxes. County Executive Michael Hein Wednesday said the company made good on general county taxes, town taxes and hotel/motel taxes owed by Nevele for 2008 and 2009, plus interest. It also reimbursed the county for its costs of litigation and attorneys’ fees. “Now we can concentrate on working with the new owners of the Nevele on trying to bring more high quality jobs to the Ellenville and Wawarsing area,” Hein said. The county in August took the Nevele to court seeking all outstanding monies before the closing of any auction of its property. On September 2, State Supreme Court ruled in the county’s favor and ordered the payments. As a result, the outstanding debt was wire transferred, Hein said Wednesday. He called the payment “a real win for taxpayers.”
