Improvements set for Ulster roads

KINGSTON – A total of $1.4 million has been awarded to correct slope failures and pavement settling on State Routes 212 in the Town of Shandaken, 213 in the Town of Esopus and 214 in the Town of Shandaken.

The contract has been awarded to Kingston Equipment Rental of West Hurley.

The project will eliminate the need for continual pavement repairs by correcting identified pavement and/or sub-grade deficiencies, to extend the useful life of the highway and maintain it in a structurally sound condition, using cost-effective soil treatments that provide low life cycle costs, as well as minimize environmental impacts.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring 2010 and be completed by that summer.
