Cohoes woman charged with selling elderly man’s home and pocketing the money

VALATIE – A Cohoes woman has been arrested in Columbia County and charged with selling the home and property of an elderly man she befriended while he was a resident at a local nursing home.

Lisa Nagel, 46, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office began the criminal investigation when members of the county Department of social Services Adult Protective Services Unit contacted investigators.

Nagel was found to have moved to various locations in Saratoga County and continually received and cashed the victim’s social security checks.

Additional charges are pending as police continue to investigate with the Social Security Administration, State Police and Saratoga County Department of Social Services.
