“Major drug dealer” arrested in Putnam

CARMEL – Putnam County sheriff’s officials believe they have “a major drug dealer” in custody with the arrest of Scott William Flaherty, 50, of Carmel.

Police allege he sold undercover officers Oxycodone pills on a number of occasions.

As a result, police secured a search warrant for his residence at 122A Gleneida Avenue and seized $4,500 in cash, numerous illegal knives, narcotics transaction records and 14 firearms, including three assault rifles and a loaded unregistered .38 caliber revolver.

The gun was found underneath a pillow on a bed.

Flaherty was charged with 11 drug related crimes including criminal possession and criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

If convicted, he faces p to 25 years in state prison.
