Three arrested for Deerpark home invasion, assault

DEERPARK – State Police at Middletown have arrested three men in connection with a home invasion robbery during which the homeowner was shot two times.

Devon Jones, 17, and Jermaine Davis, 22, both of Fallsburg, were charged with assault in the first degree, a felony. Brandon Battle, 22, also of Fallsburg, was charged with criminal facilitation in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

On May 27, 2009, the men broke into a private residence on Galley Hill Road in the Town of Deerpark.

The homeowner, Carl Norman, 33, was shot after he struggled with one of the robbers. Investigation revealed Norman and his live in companion, Kelly Anderson, 32, were operating a marijuana grow operation in the basement of their home at the time of the incident.

Both were later arrested fur unlawfully growing marijuana and released on appearance tickets.

The criminal investigation into the identity of the suspects who shot Norman developed several pieces of evidence including DNA.

All three were arraigned. Bail was set at $50,000 for Jones and $25,000 for Battle. Davis was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail.
