Dutchess man killed in Putnam crash

GARRISON – A Dutchess County man was killed Tuesday morning in a car crash on Route 9 in Garrison.

The victim has been identified by Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith as Arvinder Kohli, 57, of Shemrock Hills Drive in Wappingers Falls.

According to a preliminary report, Kohli was driving a Nissan Maxima northbound on Route 9 at about 10:20 a.m. and was just north of the intersection with Route 403 when his car crossed over a double yellow line and into the southbound lane of traffic.

His car slammed head don into a Mack truck being driven southbound by a 45-year-old Peekskill man. He escaped uninjured.

A medivac helicopter brought Kohli to Westchester medical Center where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Police continue to investigate.
