Second Callicoon bank robbery in less than a week

CALLICOON – The First National Bank of Jeffersonville branch near Callicoon was robbed late Wednesday afternoon.  It was the second bank robbery in the Callicoon area in six days.

The branch, at 4499 Route 17B, was held up at around 4:45 p.m. by a man wearing a mask and armed with a gun.

After he obtained an unknown amount of cash, he fled from the scene in a car, which was described by bank employees as a light blue, older model Pontiac with the front license plate covered with a plastic bag.

It was last seen traveling eastbound on Route 17B.

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at Liberty at 845-292-6600.

Last Friday, two men robbed the Bank of America in the Hamlet.  The two suspects, both from Connecticut, were arrested a short time later.
