Indian Point Unit 2 automatically shuts down

BUCHANAN – The Indian Point nuclear power plant 2 shut down safely Monday night following a failure in the main generator electrical circuit.

There was no release of radioactivity, Entergy officials said.

Unit 2 had been operating continuously for 213 days. Unit 3, which has been online for 67 continuous days, is unaffected by the shutdown and operating at full power.

The NRC and local officials were notified.
