Two men, including probationer, arrested on drug charges

ELLENVILLE – When Ulster County Probation officers assigned to the URGENT task force responded to 1 Hickory Street in Ellenville on Sunday morning, they thought there were just checking the sensor of probationer Ronald Pruitt’s electronic monitoring equipment.

What they found were several people in the residence along with drug paraphernalia in plain view. They called for assistance from Ellenville Police, who searched the apartment and found cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana, drug packaging material and other drug paraphernalia.

Pruitt, 47, was arrested along with Charles Walters, 41, of 9W Motel in Lake Katrine. They were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminally using paraphernalia in the second degree and criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree.

Both men were arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. Pruitt also faces several probation violations.
