Fatal motorcycle crash in Saugerties

SAUGERTIES – A 42-year-old Port Ewen man lost his life when his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle ran off the roadway on Glasco Turnpike near Smith Road and into a wooded area.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Will Drake, Jr. of 204 Salem Street in Port Ewen was thrown off the vehicle and into the woods.

He was transported to Benedictine Hospital in Kingston where he died of his injuries, police said.

This is the third accident on Glasco Turnpike in Saugerties since the weekend.

An unidentified adult was found dead in the back of a burned out Chevrolet Suburban early Sunday morning. And three hours before, two pickup trucks collided almost head-on on the same road, less than 500 feet from where the fatal accident occurred later.

The two male drivers of the trucks were not seriously injured.
