Fire guts commuter bus


Cause of the fire is unknown


SLOATSBURG – A commuter bus en route from Kiamesha Lake to Rockland County caught fire early Friday afternoon and burned up near exit 15A southbound on the Thruway.

The vehicle, owned by the Keser Bus company, was traveling from the Sullivan County community of Gibbers, part of the Viznits community, when fire erupted.

The driver pulled off to the shoulder of the road where the vehicle burned up.

Everyone on board was safely evacuated. The exact number of passengers could not be learned and the cause of the fire is unknown. No one was reported injured.
