Veritas Farms CSA joins with Poughkeepsie Farm Project

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie Farm Project (PFP) has announced that it has partnered with Veritas Farms, a sustainable farm in Esopus, to bring to bring more community supported agriculture (CSA) shares into Poughkeepsie.

Veritas Farms has space for 50 CSA members at its drop-off site at the PFP, at Vassar College Farm in Poughkeepsie, on Monday nights throughout the 2009 harvest season.

Since the PFP presently has a waiting list for its shares, a high demand is anticipated.

“We are delighted to be a part of the PFP since we share the belief that old methods of farming can work in harmony with the environment,” stated Stephanie Turco of Veritas Farms.

“Partnering with Veritas Farms allows us to share all the benefits of the CSA experience with even more families in the Poughkeepsie area and we could not be more pleased with the arrangement,” said PFP’s Farm and Program Manager Wendy Burkhart-Spiegel.

Veritas Farms’ CSA shares will begin in mid-June 2009 and run for 20 weeks. Produce will be delivered directly to PFP’s Vassar Farm site on Monday evenings, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The cost is $425 per share for the entire season, plus a membership contribution to the PFP of $25 or more. This annual membership supports the PFP in bringing this and many other food justice and education programs to the community.
