URGENT arrests two on unrelated drug charges

KINGSTON – The URGENT task force has arrested two men on unrelated drug charges.

Anthony Harding, also known as “King Anthony,” of 140 Wall Street in Kingston was charged with selling cocaine at his residence and area taverns. He was arrested after he sold cocaine to undercover officers.

Police located him at Washington Avenue and Marius Street in the City of Kingston and placed him under arrest, charging him with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending, police said.

In an unrelated case, officers arrested Matthew Schwab, 27, of 50 42nd Street in Kerhonkson.

He had been observed conducting apparent drug sales and was wanted on a bench warrant for a previous drug offense.

When officers tried to arrest Schwab, he tried to flee and then fought with them until he was subdued and arrested. He was found to be in possession of cocaine and an electric scale.

Schwab was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fifth degrees, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
