|
HUDSON – Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. Tuesday announced that Captain John Davi, Correction Division Commander and Jail Administrator for the Sheriff’s Office earned a Certificate of Completion for a national jail training program. Davi was one of 26 applicants out of 170 nationwide to attend the United States Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections, (NIC) Jail Administration Training Program. The week long training was held in Denver Colorado, at the National Institute of Correction Training Academy. The training, travel, lodging and meals were paid for by the Department of Justice for those chosen to attend. The training consisted of current trends in corrections for jails with inmate populations under 150. Staff and inmate management, policy development and risk management were also topics covered by NIC staff and corrections professionals from around the United States. “Just the fact that Captain Davi was chosen to attend the national level training says a lot about his dedication and professionalism,” said Harrison. “I feel that this type of training is important in ensuring that we maintain a professional, safe and secure county jail.” |
