Sullivan man charged with stealing car, heroin possession

MONTICELLO – A Lake Huntington man is in the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail after he was caught driving a stolen car and was found to be in possession of a deck of heroin.

Monticello Village Police arrested Aaron Michael Musetti, 33, on Sunday morning after he was stopped while driving a car that was reported stolen on February 26 to Village of Walden Police. The owner of the car had left it running and unattended in front of a bank.

A Monticello Police officer stopped Musetti after the computerized license plate reader on the officer’s patrol car came back with a hit on a stolen car.

Musetti was charged with felonies of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and driving while ability impaired by the use of drugs, and misdemeanors for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Musetti had been previously convicted in Newburgh City Court of driving while his ability was impaired by the use of drugs on January 2006.
