Marbletown sustainable economic development project receives Greenway grant

ALBANY – The Hudson River Valley Greenway has approved a matching grant to the Town of Marbletown for $10,000 to fund the completion of the Commercial Hamlet Development portion of the Marbletown Sustainable Economic Development (MSED) project.

In 2005, Marbletown adopted a comprehensive plan to guide the future development of the community. To address future development, the town developed the MSED Project. The objective of the project is to provide an integrated plan to stimulate the local economy without compromising conservation of open space or farmlands.

The town places special emphasis on preserving the rural character by protecting open space and farmlands, as such, the Commercial Hamlet Development will focus on existing priority areas that will bolster economic opportunity while staying consistent with Marbletown’s vision of future growth.
