Still no movement in State Senate

ALBANY – Democrats and Republicans Sunday held brief State Senate sessions of their own after Governor Paterson ordered lawmakers back to Albany. The two sides, deadlocked at 31-31, have yet to resolve their power and leadership struggle.

All of the senators in the Mid-Hudson are Republicans and Senator William Larkin of Cornwall-on-Hudson put the blame on the governor for not putting the pressure on senators in his political party.

“He said the other day, ‘I’m the leader of the Democrats in the state.’ I heard Mario Cuomo say that, I heard Hugh Carey say it and if you are the leader, stand up and do something,” Larkin said. “All of this nonsense back and forth is not doing a damn bit of good.”

Counties and municipalities around the state are getting nervous as sales tax and other revenue extenders expire Tuesday and they have yet to be approved.
