| Man arrested in pistol whipping, robbery |

MONTICELLO – Police have arrested a Monticello man who they said is a member of the Bloods street gang in connection with a robbery and pistol whipping of a man in the village early Saturday morning. Monticello and State Police, who were working in a joint state IMPACT patrol, were approached by a speeding car at the Intersection of Broadway and Lakewood Avenue at 3:40 a.m. The driver told them he had just been robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped by two men on Bedford Avenue. The victim was bleeding from his head and required 12 stitches to close the wound at Catskill Regional Medical Center. Police investigated and at 9:30 a.m. arrested Leslie Kiev Bracey, 18, at his Bedford Avenue residence. The handgun used in the robbery was recovered. He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail while the investigation continues for a second suspect. Bracey was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, assault in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, criminal use of a firearm in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree and menacing in the second degree. |
