Ulster lawmaker appointed to Stewart advisory group

KINGSTON – Ulster County Legislator Jon Decker of Highland has been named to the Stewart Airport Commission by Governor David Paterson.

Decker is a former Lloyd town supervisor, a planning board co-chairman and town councilman. He will bring “a wealth of experience from the private and public sectors,” said Ulster County Legislature Chairman David Donaldson.

The commission provides advice and consent to the state Department of Transportation, Stewart Airport’s landlord. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operates the facility through a long term lease.

Created by state law, the SAC includes members from Orange, Ulster and Dutchess counties as well as the top elected official of each county, who sits in an ex-officio capacity.
