Suspicious package left at gas station

TOWN OF ULSTER – A suspicious package left next to gas pumps at the Quick Chek station in the Town of Ulster turned out to be a typewriter inside a briefcase.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, State Police at Kingston responded to a 911 call for a suspicious package at the gas station at 630 Washington Avenue.

They found a black briefcase next to the gas pumps and immediately evacuated the store and established a perimeter.
A member of the State Police bomb Disposal Unit arrived and x-rayed the case to find it contained the typewriter.

Kingston City and Town of Ulster Police assisted in the investigation.
