| Four kittens rescued from bag |
|
HYDE PARK – Four month-old kittens were saved from certain death Friday morning when a woman found a paper bag, sealed with clear packing tape, left along Route 9 in Rhinebeck. Inside were four kittens, estimated to be between four and six weeks old. They appeared to be in good health. The woman brought the little animals to the Dutchess County SPCA office in Hyde Park where she spoke with Humane Law Officer Stephanie Fitzpatrick. The bag was found on the east side of Route 9 just south of Costco in Rhinebeck. “It is shocking that someone had such callous disregard for these four animals,” said SPCA Executive Director Joyce Garrity. Humane law officers will continue their investigation. Shelter officials urge anyone with information to contact the Humane Law Department at 845-452-7722 ext. 4.
