Ulster County Summer Youth Employment Program gears up

KINGSTON - Ulster County Executive Michael Hein and the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training have announced that applications for the 2009 Summer Youth Employment Program are now available.  This program will provide approximately 300 eligible youths in Ulster County with summer work experience.

The program is scheduled to begin on July 6 and run for approximately six weeks.

Youth will be paid $8 per hour for approximately 28 hours per week. Jobs will be at public and private and not-for-profit worksites throughout the county.

To be eligible for the program, youths must be Ulster County residents, between the ages of 14 – 24 and have family income that is at or below 200 percent of Federal poverty income standards.  

Applications are available at the YMCA at 507 Broadway and 209 Clinton Avenue in Kingston; high school guidance offices in Ellenville, Highland, Kingston, Marlboro, New Paltz, Onteora,  Rondout Valley, Saugerties, Wallkill; Ulster county town, village and city halls; youth and community centers at the Pine Hill Community Center, Town of Rosendale Youth Center, Woodstock Youth Center, Everett Hodge Community Center in Kingston, Marbletown Teen Center,  Rondout Neighborhood Center, Midtown Center in Kingston; as well as at Ulster BOCES in Port Ewen, Community Action in Ellenville, Ulster County ULSTER WORKS One Stop Center in Kingston, Ulster County Dept of Social Services in Kingston, Boys & Girls Club of Kingston and Boys & Girls Club of Saugerties; and at the Ulster County Office of Employment and Training Business Resource Center Room 225 and Room 651.
