Luxury boutique hotel planned for old mansion

Stenberg is one of two partners planning to open the
upscale hotel by this fall

CHESTER – Tuxedo Park residents Alan Stenberg and Daniel DeSimone are sinking $25 million into the old Glenmere Mansion in the Town of Chester to convert the 1911 structure into a boutique luxury hotel.

It will be ready for business in the fall with a spa to follow next spring.

The rooms will start at $300 and go up to $3,000… per night.

The mansion will be “an adult camp,” said Stenberg. “There are a number of these small, luxury hotels around the country,” he said. “People come and they go to New York and they travel all over the world and people do like to go to these small hotels that get personal service and attention to detail,” he said.

Glenmere will also have crocket and tennis courts and will offer a restaurant and tavern for local clientele.

The historic mansion is “part of the fabric of Orange County,” said Stenberg.
