Man with five previous DWI convictions arrested on new drunk driving charge

LIBERTY – A Livingston Manor man, who has five previous DWI convictions has been charged again, this time with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Liberty Village Police arrested Kenneth Edwards, Jr. early Sunday morning> he was also charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor.

A village police officer, who was operating a patrol car with a computerized license plate reader, ran the plate and confirmed Edwards was driving with a suspended registration. He was stopped and charged with the additional counts.

Edwards’ BAC was .18 percent, police said.

His previous DWI convictions included one in 1979, two in 1982, and one each in 1986 and 2008.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
