Bank robbery suspect indicted

GOSHEN – An Orange, New Jersey man has been indicted by an Orange County grand jury for allegedly robbing the TD Bank branch in Middletown on May 16.

Another robbery charge against Eddie Young, 31, has yet to be presented to the grand jury. Young had been charged by Middletown City Police at the time of his arrest with also holding up the same bank weeks before.

He was indicted on charges of robbery in the first and third degrees, grand larceny in the third degree, resisting arrest and injuring a police animal. Young was arrested moments after he fled the bank on Saturday, May 16. He robbed it with what appeared to be a weapon and when he was tracked down; he threatened to shoot the officers and injured a police K-9.

This wasn’t young’s first brush with the law in Orange County, said District Attorney Frank Phillips.

He had previously pled guilty to two previous burglaries, but was released by the court to “clear up of some personal business.” Over the DA’s objections, he was released on his own recognizance. “One of those personal matters, apparently, was robbing the TD North Bank,” Phillips said.

Young is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
