“Meet Me in Marlborough” wins state farm trail designation

MARLBOROUGH – “Meet Me in Marlborough” is a six year old effort to promote the town’s farming history and industry and the organization has recently been given official state status as a New York State Farm Trail.

The designation by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets authorizes farm trail signs along state and county roads to give directions to visitors about Marlborough’s farms, pick your owns and wineries.

The designation is more than just that, said Sheila Mannese, Meet Me in Marlborough founder.

“We’re marking not only six years of ‘Meet Me in Marlborough,’ 300 years of farming in Marlborough – this is our anniversary year, (and) the farm trail which we are so excited about,” she said.

Over 70 members have joined since the group was founded in 2003.

A special celebration of the farm trail will take place on August 29 at the Heart of the Hudson Valley’s Farmers Market.
