Ulster County to use DOE stimulus funds for energy efficiency projects

KINGSTON – Ulster County will use $750,000 in Energy Department funds from the stimulus package for energy efficiency programs.

County Department of Environment Coordinator Amanda LaValle said the money will be targeted for four specific projects.

They include comprehensive energy audits of the county buildings, photovoltaic installation at the Ulster County Public Works facility under construction in New Paltz, an energy efficient outdoor lighting retrofit, a the purchase of hybrid vehicles for the county fleet.  The county would buy six sedans for its fleet.

It could receive additional funds from NYSERDA.
