Sullivan County Community College  budget adopted with no debate

MONTICELLO – “Doing more with less” is how Board of Trustees Chairwoman Phyllis Coombe put it, in urging the Sullivan County Legislature to approve a community college budget.

The legislature complied, unanimously.

Legislature Chairman Jonathan Rouis said both sides understood the current economic constraints.

“Difficult times; I think they recognized that.  They tried to work with us.   I think the communication and the level of support between the two agencies was better this year than in years past.  I think that is what produced the unanimous vote on the budget.

The $16.1 million adopted budget is about $1.2 million lower than the original departmental requests.

The county share, to be raised by taxes, is $4 million.
