Former deputy sheriff charged with attempted dissemination of indecent materials to minor

KINGSTON – A former Onondaga County deputy sheriff assigned to the jail division has been arrested by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit and charged with attempted disseminating indecent materials to a minor in the first degree, a felony.

The arrest of Christopher Pierce, 42, of Clay, NY stemmed from a four month investigation conducted by the Ulster Sheriff’s unit. He is accused of engaging in several online electronic-type written conversations with an undercover deputy sheriff who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. The conversations described various sex acts in detail, authorities said.

Police from Ulster County and Onondaga County executed a search warrant at Pierce’s home and seized three computers and other computer related evidence.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in Kingston in lieu of  $2,500 bail.
