Electric cars will add to county’s energy conservation efforts, says Rouis

MONTICELLO – Fourteen Mini Cooper electric cars that will be tested at Sullivan Renaissance and The Center for Discovery will do much to reduce the county’s air pollution.

The plug-in cars will be tested through an arrangement made by County Legislature Chairman Jonathan Rouis.

“One of the things I have been trying to keep together is keeping the involvement of the private sector, the public sector and our not-for-profit community to continue to integrate all three of these groups to, not only, find a way to reduce our carbon footprint and embrace these green initiatives, but also to have it come full circle and involve job creation and economic sustainabilities,” he said.

Next on the plan for sustainable energy on the county level will be energy audits for county buildings, said Rouis.
