City of Hudson Police nab store robber

Gaudiosi

HUDSON – City Police in Hudson had a suspect in custody hours after a store robbery on Thursday. James Gaudiosi, 43, of Hudson, has been charged with second-degree robbery and other charges.

At 9:35 a.m., Gaudiosi walked into the Star Market at 534 Warren Street, waited until all the patrons left, then approached the female clerk and began punching her.

The suspect opened the cash register and fled out the back door into Prison Alley with an undisclosed amount of money.

When he ran off, Hudson Police officers saw him run into his residence at 22 Fairview Avenue. Officers gave chase and saw him going into a close inside the home. He then confronted and menaced the officers with an arrow, was subdued, continued to resist arrest and was taken into custody at 2:45 p.m.

As a result of his skirmish with the police, Gaudiosi was charged with menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and resisting arrest.

The clerk, a 32-year-old Hudson woman, was treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the assault.
