Wawayanda issues scoping document for planned recycling facility

SLATE HILL – The Wawayanda Town Planning Board has issued Brookfield Resource Management the final scoping document for the company’s proposed recycling facility in the town.

The document establishes the parameters for the project’s environmental review under the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act.

Brookfield wants to build a state-of-the-art recycling facility in Wawayanda that would create over 50 jobs and contribute to the town’s tax base.

“This step allows us to complete critical environmental and economic studies for the SEQRA review,” said Brookfield President Thomas Malone. “We expect the town to hold us to a high standard during the review, as we propose to build nothing less than a world-class recycling facility.”

The recycling operation is proposed for Dolsontown Road. The company hopes to break ground on the recycling facility next year.
